Creating Christmas Magic!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Seriously. It really is. And it’s EXTRA special if you have children! The holiday season is so exciting and magical for little ones. I have amazing memories from my childhood thanks to my Mom who made every year so fun. Now, that I have three little kids I try to do the same for them through decorations, crafts, food, etc. I  know everyone is currently in holiday prep mode, so I wanted to share some of our decorations and things we’ve done so far.

I think it’s really important to say that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your home look beautiful for the holidays. So many of my decorations are budget buys! You can find great deals this time of year if you look. We get a real tree each year and load it up with ornaments. A good tip is to pick up a few new items each year, and your collection will really grow over time. No need to do it all at once.

Our stockings are hung right by the tree. We don’t want Santa to miss them!

We also add lit and decorated garland to our staircase, and tie it up with big beautiful bows. Above the garland I hang extra large ornaments for a fun touch!

We have a small colorful tree on our entry table that the kids love. It’s bright and fun just like them.

The kitchen I keep fairly simple because there’s always so much going on, and I don’t like a lot of clutter in there. I have these pretty little cone trees on the counter with a burlap banner hung above.

On the wall nearby, we have our super cute Advent Elf who helps us count down the days till Christmas!

Finally, I’ll share one little craft I’ve done with the kids. They’ve been asking me to buy a nutcracker since last year. But, I thought it would be more fun if they each got to paint their own. I purchased plain wood nutcrackers and paint from Hobby Lobby, and set them up. The kids spent a couple of hours painting them, and I love how each one turned out so unique. This was a really fun activity for a Sunday morning!

I don’t want to end this post without mentioning Buddy the Elf. He’s back, and causing lots of mischief around the house. I plan to share all of the naughty things he’s been doing in an upcoming blog post. But, it the meantime, check out these delicious lunches he packed for the kids! TODAY Parents actually shared my post on their Instagram this morning. Check it out!
